I like this chapter, it was short and straight to the point.
I agree that when you are teaching something you should teach the crucial
content. I guess presentations are comparable to a lesson in the classroom,
most lessons start with hooks to engage the students and pique their interest.
Same thing with presentations, you need attention grabbers to grab their attention.
Burmark mentions several elements that can help you keep your audience's
attention, connections, humor, images, music, emotion, story, and senses. I
think that you should do your homework in regards to the group of people that
you will be presenting to and then think of ways in which the CHIMES elements
can be incorporated into your presentation to help you get your point across
and make your presentation an enjoyable and memorable one. Maybe you can
incorporate all of them, maybe some will be inappropriate. Keep in mind Burmark's
rule, you should attract not distract.
