Copyright Presentation Version 2

Here is my revised Copyright presentation: Copyright Presentation - Tweaked

I have to admit, that even after tweaking it, I am still not happy with it, so will most likely tweak it some more. I reduced the amount of text from several slides. The template that I thought fit the subject so well now seemed overpowering and too busy. I realized I had no images whatsoever other than the ones on the template.

Ch4: Ringing Chimes

I like this chapter, it was short and straight to the point. I agree that when you are teaching something you should teach the crucial content. I guess presentations are comparable to a lesson in the classroom, most lessons start with hooks to engage the students and pique their interest. Same thing with presentations, you need attention grabbers to grab their attention. Burmark mentions several elements that can help you keep your audience's attention, connections, humor, images, music, emotion, story, and senses. I think that you should do your homework in regards to the group of people that you will be presenting to and then think of ways in which the CHIMES elements can be incorporated into your presentation to help you get your point across and make your presentation an enjoyable and memorable one. Maybe you can incorporate all of them, maybe some will be inappropriate. Keep in mind Burmark's rule, you should attract not distract.

Ch1: Tweaking Presentations

In chapter 1, I learned a few things from Burmark, first of all the importance of the colors. Good to know which colors grab your audience attention immediately and which could do the opposite. Second, using templates, I never thought templates were bad, but now that I think about it, I don't think there has been a single time where I've used a template where I didn't make changes to its default text color or size. I totally agree with Burmark that we should all do a test run of our presentations before the actual presentation just in case something goes wrong or if the hardware doesn't function properly, it can be replaced before you start. I also agree in less is better and using applicable images to help your audience visualize what you are trying to convey. I really liked seeing the revised presentation that she did for her neighbor Dave, wow, what a big difference, it looked so much better after the tweaking.

Module 1 - Web 2.0 Tools

Copyright Presentation: Download
I learned some new things about the copyright laws while working on the Copyright presentation. I didn't know that Copyrighted material had terms that could actually expire. I'm also now aware why some material is deemed part of the public domain and that you should still give credit where credit is due, even if it's part of the public domain. I now also now know that your employer is the copyright owner of whatever you create, develop or invent if it's created, developed, or invented during working hours.
